At The Co-operative Asset Management, 'engagement' means 2 things:

  1. as active shareholders, tackling companies over issues of concern and championing best practice to effect change in company behaviour over time; and
  2. adding value to decision-making in the investment process:
    • themes – engagement activity creates catalysts for the development of themes and informs thinking on how themes may play out over time
    • company analysis – the intelligence gathered during engagement activity is fed back into the research process, adding a different perspective and creating a more robust view of a company.
